The Chasing Bubbles Foundation organizes the first Alex Rust regatta

The first Alex Rust Regatta took place on June 12 at Onyx Lake in Seymour.

The Regatta was a pirate-themed fundraising event hosted by the Chasing Bubbles Foundation to inspire a fun and safe adventure in honor of Captain Alex Rust, according to a press release.

Rust was born and raised in Seymour. He died suddenly on May 28, 2013 in India from complications from typhoid fever. He was 28 years old.

The event consisted of three races:

Paddle for those with kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, canoes and anything that requires the rider to paddle.

Sailing limited to sailing dinghies under 18 feet due to the size of the lake.
