Merged bank appoints Frishberg SVP and Chief Sustainability Officer
Amalgamated Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of Amalgamated Financial, has appointed Ivan Frishberg Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer.

Frishberg has been with Amalgamated since 2016, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Commercial Banking and leading the Sustainable Banking Division. With more than 20 years of experience in public interest advocacy, organization and political experience, he has used this role to rally the commitments of the banking sector to fight climate change, notably by carrying the Partnership for carbon accounting (PCAF) to $ 50 trillion in assets. Frishberg positioned Amalgamated to take a global leadership role within the UNEP FI and supported the development of guidelines on how banks will set targets to reduce their emissions financed through Net Zero. Recently launched Banking Alliance (NZBA). Frishberg sits on the NZBA Steering Group and the Glasgow Finance Alliance Advisory Board for Net Zero.
Prior to Amalgamated, Frishberg was Senior Advisor and Campaign Director on Climate Change for Organizing for Action and Senior Advisor for the Climate Action Campaign, a multi-year national coalition effort to advocate for the Clean Air Act and support new federal climate policies and public health. Frishberg has managed public engagement grant programs for Pew Charitable Trusts and has served as political director of Environment America and Clean Energy Works. Frishberg has also worked with the Climate Briefing Service at the intersection of US climate advocacy and recent international climate negotiations.
