Nearly 25 Maui Economic Opportunity Youth Services attendees and agency staff took part in a Maui Homeless Alliance sign event Tuesday along Kaahumanu Avenue.

The Maui Homeless Alliance hosted the event to mark National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week from November 13-21.

Organizations that provide help to the homeless in Maui joined the sign event, including Feed My Sheep, Family Life Center, Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Centers and organizations Catholic charities.

MEO’s contingent included 15 young people, as well as CEO Debbie Cabebe, COO Gay Sibonga, Director of Youth Services Dane Ka’ae, Director of Community Services Cassi Yamashita and Housing Specialist Kathy Jimenez. The group held signs stating “Homelessness affects you” “Everyone should have a house” and “Imagine a Maui where everyone lives in one house. “

Rental, mortgage and utility assistance is available to those in need through MEO.
