DENVER, October 14, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Today, World Down Syndrome Foundation (GLOBAL) announced GRAMMY® Award-winning artist, songwriter, actress, author and philanthropist Sara Bareilles will perform at GLOBAL’s virtual Be beautiful Be yourself Fashion show to Saturday 13 November 2021. Bareilles will perform his iconic hits, including “Brave” and “The Light”, and share his personal connection to our community with Down’s syndrome.

Inducted into the Professional Football Hall of Fame and current CEO of the San Francisco 49ers John lynch will receive the Quincy Jones Outstanding Advocacy Award alongside the Peruvian lawyer and politician Bryan russell mujica. Lynch will receive the award for his commitment to athletes of varying abilities and for the college scholarships he has awarded to young athletes with Down syndrome and other intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Twenty-six beautiful models Down’s syndrome from eight states and three countries will be presented on the virtual track. This year GLOBAL Ambassadors are Archie and Sevy Eicher, two siblings who were adopted from an orphanage in Bulgaria by loving parents, Lisa and Joey, and siblings, Ace and Radko. Archie is a booming model who recently featured in Gap’s new teen line, and Sevy is an internationally renowned painter with a waitlist of over 8,000.

The Parade will also pay tribute to DeOndra Dixon, the beloved sister of Jamie foxx who tragically passed away last year. GLOBAL honors its memory through the DeOndra Dixon Down Syndrome Research Fund, which raises funds to address health issues and health care disparities for African Americans with Down syndrome.

Despite the pandemic and a year of tragic losses within the Down syndrome community, GLOBAL has worked tirelessly to provide vital information and grants to the community. GLOBAL has provided COVID-19 GLOBAL emergency relief grants to more than 200 people with Down syndrome and their families, and more than 30,000 pieces of PPE continue to be delivered to people with intellectual disabilities living in group and foster homes; COVID-19 & Down Syndrome resource, created in collaboration with a consortium of national organizations, has been updated to include information on the Delta variant and boosters; and millions of dollars in NIH funding has been secured for Down syndrome research and medical care, including groundbreaking research for Leukine® trial that has taken the next step with positive results in patients with Alzheimer’s disease.
