Democrats’ Inaction Inciting Attacks on Pro-Life Centers – The Fort Morgan Times

Democrats’ inaction toward protecting pro-life pregnancy centers across America has incited violence and a progressive revolution, U.S. Representative Ken Buck, R-Windsor, said Thursday during a a House Judiciary Committee hearing.

In late June, he led a letter from House members to the Justice Department advocating for action to stem violence against pro-life organizations and churches.

“This is far from the first time the left has used violence in its push to incite a progressive revolution in America,” Buck said. “From an assassination attempt on [Supreme Court] Judge Brett Cavanaugh, to growing attacks from Black Lives Matter and Antifa, amid mass riots, vandalism and arson in 2020, the left has too often chosen violence.

Testimony at the hearing by Catherine Glenn Foster, President and CEO of Americans United for Life, indicated that “several million” women are served by Crisis Pregnancy Resource Centers each year, and that 76% of women – not counting those who choose adoption – would choose to be parents if their circumstances were different.

“This hearing should be aimed at helping them improve their situation,” said Glenn Foster.

Buck relayed that his district’s Life Choices center was targeted on June 26.

“It was attacked and a fire broke out inside,” Buck said. “On the outside wall, the arsonist spray painted: ‘If abortions aren’t safe, neither are you.’ ”

The majority of pregnancy centers in America are entirely voluntary and dependent on donations, said Glenn Foster, and noted that many centers now spend donations on security.

In Brush, Police Chief Derek Bos recently reported that his officers visited both a crisis pregnancy center in town and the local hospital to ensure the safety of clients and staff.

“The radical left is now more violent than ever, with more than 50 attacks on pro-life pregnancy centers and churches since May,” Buck said. “Rather than ending the violence, the Biden administration and its Justice Department refuse to condemn it and even suggest that it is the abortionists who are under attack and in need of protection.”

In his letter to the DOJ, Buck theorized from his time as a prosecutor: “Criminals don’t stop until they’re caught. Since the Flight of Roe v. Wade, pro-abortion extremists have committed acts of terrorism against pro-life organizations and churches across the country. They won’t stop until the Justice Department steps in and does its job.

On Thursday, Buck also relayed his concerns with the band Jane’s Revenge.

“They say it’s open season for American pro-life institutions, with other groups even offering bonuses to American pro-life judges,” he said. “Meanwhile, the DOJ continues to target conservatives. My friends across the way seem to believe that they can bend reality to their own whims, if they repeat the same radical talking points long enough.

Rioter violence in 2020, he said, caused more than $1 billion in damage and claimed 20 lives.

“The rule of law and the freedom of speech and religion of pro-life Americans are under attack,” Buck said. “Americans deserve better. The progressives behind this violence and the national and [national] the media that promotes it threatens us all.
