Bubbah’s Toy Box & Collectibles Holds Fundraising Event

LIHU’E – Kristyn Peralta of Bubbah’s Toy Box & Collectibles said that prizes donated by other collectors and friends will be handed out on Saturday during the A Fight for Cancer pop exchange for Randal Gusman at the Kukui Grove Center.

“The Pop Swap is in honor of one of our dear friends and fellow collector Randal Gusman,” said Peralta. “Earlier this year, she was diagnosed with stage 4 peripheral T cell lymphoma. The cancer is rare and very aggressive. He has cancer in his stomach, liver, spleen, and spine.

In the coming weeks, Gusman will be traveling to the mainland for a bone marrow transplant.

“With so many medical needs and appointments, the last thing we want is for him and his family to worry about financial hardship,” Peralta said. “We will be organizing prize giveaways to help him fight cancer. All proceeds raised during the Pop Swap on June 26 will go towards Randal’s medical expenses. “

Some of the prizes include an Xbox, Chemical Guys Car Care buckets, classified old Pokemon slabs, a framed Kobe Bryant collectible, and more.

“One of the on-air radio personalities posted this on his social media page, and the phone rang a lot,” Peralta said. “Some of these people, I don’t even know, but they contribute prizes to help Randal.”

Due to the number of prizes and the value of some of those prizes, Bubbah’s Toy Box will offer the prizes for viewing and begin accepting donations for Randal, starting Monday through 5pm Saturday.

Contributors donate and receive tickets in return. These tickets are deposited in a receptacle corresponding to an object of the price which interests them. On Saturday at 5:00 p.m., this process ends, and at 6:00 p.m., a draw is made in each receptacle for the winners.

“People have been so generous,” Peralta said. “When they found out what we were doing, the prizes started coming in. As more prizes come in, they will be added to the store display.”
