Broadway Utica and Empowered Pathways Partner to Help Women Find Jobs

UTICA – Broadway’s “Beyond The Stage” Utica has partnered with Empowered Pathways to launch an effort to encourage women to achieve their dreams.

“She Works Hard For The Money” is the latest initiative in Broadway Utica’s commitment to giving back to the community. With the power of Donna Summer and guidance from Empowered Pathway’s Women’s Employment & Resource Center, the Broadway Theater League of Utica is seeking donations of supplies such as notebooks, pens, umbrellas, bus passes and cards- gifts of essence, by the start performance of Summer, a musical highlighting the life of the disco diva on Tuesday, November 23, with the aim of helping women land the roles they want in the world work.

“Empowered Pathways is very grateful to Broadway Utica for honoring the women we serve through this special collaboration,” said Empowered Pathway Executive Director Stephanie Dulak-Eghigian. “Thank you for helping us shine a light on the stories of the women who come to the WERC program seeking training and support. The items collected during this event will greatly improve our ability to support them in their professional journey. “

Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, takes audiences through Summer’s life as a Boston girl who walked through the stars of the gospel choir to the diva of the dance floor.

“Empowered Pathways helps so many women who, like Donna, are ready to take on the world,” said Danielle Padula, executive director of Broadway Utica. “Through Empowering Pathways, women receive educational tools, financial support and even the right attire to start their careers. Hearing Donna’s message on stage, then taking those steps and bringing them into our own community, is something Broadway Utica is very proud of. Partnerships like this go far beyond the stage, playing a vital role in both the success of our industry and the community we serve. We are proud to call Empowered Pathways our neighbors in downtown Utica and friends of the theater community.

The Empowered Pathway Women’s Employment and Resource Center provides employment preparation services to women, including specialized training programs, one-on-one personal assistance, resume and cover letter preparation, assistance job search, computer training and access to Boutique Suzanne, a clothes closet lined with housekeeping and clothing to help women get this new job.
