BCIC encourages companies to improve tax structures

BROWNSVILLE, TX (ValleyCentral) – The Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC) is encouraging small business owners to reshape their tax structures in an effort to increase their profits.

“The tax structure looks really boring, but when you really think about it, so many companies were left behind during COVID-19 because they couldn’t access emergency funding,” said Nathan Burkhart , Director of Small Business Development, BCIC.

Burkhart added that small business owners easily make mistakes with their taxes, but said it could lead to illegal tax structures.

“A lot of businesses want to start right away and in doing so a lot of mistakes can be made and in this case those mistakes could be costly,” Burkhart said.

The Rio Grande Valley region is growing and local businesses need tools to grow and keep pace, according to Burkhart.

“We don’t want these companies to fall through the cracks. So it’s a great workshop to make sure these businesses are functioning legally and properly and don’t miss out on these grants, ”said Burkhart.

Burkhart said the eBridge was created with several partners to be a resource center for small businesses to find information and help.

“This workshop, like many others in the future, will be part of our eBridge hub for business and marketing,” said Burkhart.

The physical location of the eBridge Center will be completed and ready for use by March 2022.
