Ann Arbor nonprofit to host fundraiser for scavenger hunt in late October

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Compete to win in the first Reuse Road Rally on Sunday, October 24.

Hosted by SCRAP Creative Reuse, the drive-thru scavenger hunt will take teams all around Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti as they follow clues and take photos. Participants will create their own reusable mascot and send photos to SCRAP volunteers while moving around the game.

Additional points will be awarded to those who perform in their Halloween costumes, the nonprofit Ann Arbor said.

The event starts at 1 p.m. with the registration and construction of the mascot. The rally starts at 2 p.m.

“We have worked hard to bring education programs, workshops and events back in the safest way possible. We wanted this fundraiser to be enjoyed safely by small groups and families – a little competitive, a little creative and even more fun, ”said Claire Tyra, director of SCRAP Box, in a statement.

Teams will compete for prizes including SCRAP gift cards, items from local businesses and the $ 100 SCRAP dollar grand prize and other items.

Tickets cost $ 30 per participating vehicle and can be purchased on Eventbrite. Online registration for the event runs until Sunday, October 17.

The funds raised through the road rally will be used to promote SCRAP and its mission.

The Ann Arbor nonprofit has seen its funding affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but still manages to divert around 7,000 pounds of material from the waste stream each month, he said .

SCRAP Creative Reuse is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at 4567 Washtenaw Ave.
