14th Star Brewing Launches Beer to Help Alzheimer’s Research

SAINT ALBANS, Vermont (WCAX) – June 20 is the summer solstice, and although many are taking advantage of the lengthening of the day, one group is using it to raise funds.

The day is known as “The Longest Day” – a fundraising event hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association across the country.

People of all ages choose a DIY fundraising event on or around the Midsummer Day, then recruit friends and family to help raise funds. Her flexible style allows people to choose something personal and do it at their own pace.

All of the money raised goes to support services, the public education program and research into treatment.

“We have very passionate volunteers who organize all kinds of events. We have breweries that make special beer, but we also have kids setting up lemonade stands or running garage sales. It runs the gamut and whether you raise $ 5, $ 500 or $ 5,000, it is all very much appreciated, ”says Charlene Bemis of the Alzheimer’s Association, MA / NH Chapter.

13,000 people live with the disease in Vermont alone.

Thus, a local brewery takes the opportunity to raise funds for a cause close to the community.

14th Star Brewing in Saint Albans has again launched its “Forget Me Not” beer, part of the sales of which is donated to the Alzheimer Association.

We are told that this beer is a Kolsch beer – a light but tasty beer. And the reason why they do it? It’s personal.

“Alzheimer’s [is] something that is devastating for individuals and families, and therefore for the community, ”says Steven Gagner, Founder of 14th Star Brewing. “My grandmother actually suffered from dementia at the end of her life and so we understand how much of an impact this disease can have, and so with some great craft beer we can do our part to have a little impact to end this disease. “

Forget Me Not will hit shelves and taps in early June and will be available in Vermont for the next few weeks.

Winning is asking anyone who loves beer to snap a photo and post it on social media for virtual cheers with the hashtag #CheersToEndALZ.
